0077. The Butcher family outside the Nags Head about 1900. From left to right they are Harry Butcher, Horace S. Butcher, Horace W. Butcher the publican, Helena May Butcher, Jack Butcher, Mrs Rosanna Butcher, Ann Woodbine (Woody) Butcher. Jack Butcher is wearing a dress, as was usual for children at that time, aged three years. Mr Butcher first came into the area from Norfolk to be the gamekeeper for the Earl of Carnarvon at Bingham. He later took over the Nag's Head. From a photograph of Dora Butcher. |
