0269.   The opening of the fourth annual exhibition of the Harby Horticultural Society on September 24 in the late 1800s with the Rector, Rev Norman, apparently reading from the Bible. The gentlemen show a rich variety of headgear (no ladies appear to have been involved in horticulture at that time), with a Sherlock Homes type outfit just to the left of Rev Norman and an Italian style flat hat on the gentleman with the clerical collar second from the left. From the Towers collection.
