0705.  Don Whittaker and tractor on the farm on Stathern Lane about 1949.  The tractor is a petrol machine with the registration FP4949, a Fergusson.  In 1928 Harry Ferguson patented a 3 point linkage which allowed tractors to carry implements rather than tow them. The first TE20 model was produced in 1946 at The Standard Motor Co., Banner Lane Coventry. As a result many farms became mechanised, in 1948 Ferguson had over
74% of the wheeled tractor market in the U.K. Don Whittaker collection.
