0825. Daniel and Mary  Coy with their daughter Ciss (Mary Alice) about 1902 doing the washing at the back of the house. Daniel is agitating the clothes in a a tub with wooden tool called a dolly. Mary is rubbing the clothes to remove stubborn stains by hand.  The 1901 census records Daniel employed in a cheese factory  aged 40, the same age as his wife Mary, living in house 17 in the schedule with  sons John Tom,  Charles Edward, Alick and Daniel as well as his daughter. Photos 0820 to 0824 show all these children at the time of  the first world war. The house is now number 12 Stathern Lane. Trevor Coy collection.
