1627. The War Memorial Cross and school in  1976. From an article on Harby in the Leicester Advertiser, October 22 1976 page 7. In the foreground, this memorial cross was erected by parishioners for all those who fought in the 1914 -18 war. It stands in what was the centre of the village. The local school stands in the background. Alterations which are being made to double its size, should be completed by building contractors at Christmas.
