In 1795 John Nichols published the first volume of "The History and Antiquities of the County of Leicestershire.  

George Crabbe wrote a chapter on "The Natural History of the Vale of Belvoir". 

He was rector at Muston then and had previously been at Belvoir Castle and Stathern.
