THE BELVOIR CHALLENGE. Every February Harby hosts the Belvoir Challenge to walk or run over a set course in a day, of either about 15 or 26 miles. The course varies from year to year. The event is organized by Harby Primary School where the participants start and finish. It is a major fund raising event for the school as well as attracting visitors from as far afield as Birmingham and East Anglia. DOVE COTTAGE HOSPICE is located near Harby, off Canal Lane at Stathern Lodge, 01949 860303. This charity provides day care for seriously ill patients. Volunteers for transport, cooking etc are always needed to help the work of this charity.

NATURESCAPE is a wildflower farm open to the public on Coachgap Lane 

SPORTS FACILITIES AND PLAYGROUNDS. At the bottom of School Lane is The Leys - a playing field & playground and the Village Hall. Extra sports facilities are to be found at Hose, next to its village hall. These currently include football, tennis and bowls

SWIMMING POOLS are available at Bingham Leisure Centre telephone 01949 838628,  www.rushcliffe.gov.uk, (as well as squash, tennis, football, badminton etc) or Waterfield in Melton. 

VETERINARY CARE is available at Bingham or Melton. 

VILLAGE HALL. The Hall is at the centre of community activities housing regular users such as the Playgroup, school P.E. activities, classes, Brownies, Women's Institute, etc. and is available for hire for parties and events, Janet Howard - 01949 860200.

WALKS AND VISITS. A network of nearby footpaths & bridleways enable exploration of adjacent countryside. The village also has a small nature reserve on the edge of the village on Stathern Lane. Canal walks are a much-appreciated pleasure in Harby; the canal can be joined at either Colston Lane or Langar Lane bridges. It is possible to walk the whole length of the canal to Grantham or Nottingham.
